Exit 7: Practice Compliance:

Are you ready to take you driving license exam? Have you studied your state’s most recent rules of the road and the international signs? Did your car pass its safety and emissions inspections? Have you paid your car registration fees? Is your car insurance policy current and is your coverage adequate? Have you passed both the written and driving tests? You must comply with each of these requirements in order to own and operate an automobile legally.

The same is true in operating a SBHC. Before a SBHC can open its doors, it must credential its clinical staff; comply with ADA, CLIA, HIPPA, OSHA, and CLAS standards and guidelines; and develop effective systems for record keeping and confidentiality. After a SBHC opens, it must continue to monitor its compliance to these guidelines, standards, and systems while keeping informed about changes and/or new regulations. SBHCs need to be aware of these requirements and to have access to the appropriate reference materials. Exit 7 provides resource materials, samples, policies and procedures, and links to help you with practice compliance and its related areas.
