Our health care system is constantly innovating and redesigning itself to meet increasing demand for better outcomes at a lesser cost. What’s it mean for the school health service sector? What possibilities might be imagined for school health to be more seamlessly integrated and coordinated across systems of care? Three leading voices from the healthcare industry offer their perspectives on the opportunities, benefits, and challenges unique to linking with the school health care sector.

ABSTRACT DESCRIPTION

Our health care system seems to be constantly innovating and redesigning itself to meet the increasing demand for better outcomes at a lesser cost. But what’s it mean for the school health service sector? What possibilities might be imagined for school health to be more seamlessly integrated and coordinated across systems of care? Three leading voices from the healthcare industry will describe their perspectives on the opportunities, benefits, and challenges unique to linking with the school health care sector. Dr. Lelin Chao from Amerigroup will provide a broad overview of systems-level reform within the context of the triple aim. Martin Taylor from CareOregon will discuss how accountable care organizations are engaging SBHCs as part of an integrated delivery and payment model. Alejandro Romillo from HealthChoice Network will describe how SBHCs can (and must) leverage dynamic innovations in technology to drive quality improvement and demonstrate academic outcomes. We hope SBHC advocates and providers will walk away feeling inspired to enact systems-level change in their own communities.
